Numerical investigation of the flow behavior of an isothermal corner impinging jet for building ventilation

The corner impinging jet concept has been proposed as a new air distribution system for use in office environments. present paper reports the mean flow field behavior of an isothermal corner-based turbulent room. A detailed experimental study is carried out to validate numerical simulations, and predictions are performed using three turbulence models. RNG k−ε model was chosen this study. This investigates influence different configuration parameters such discharge height, diffuser geometry (shape size) supply airflow rate have on field. results show that geometries used had general minor effect velocity developments along centerline floor, maximum decay spreading except some specific cases. When evaluating triangle cases, all cases with volume <20 L/s able meet Boverket's building regulations requirement both summer winter. applicability evaluation can be considered room sizes between ≈25 100 m2. In addition, wall confinement (90° vs. 180°) having significant impact ventilation. regression analysis shows distance diagonal most rate.
